In October 1994,
the site suffered an arson attack from an Animal Liberation group.
Most of the transport fleet suffered considerable damage and a
substantial part of the building had to be demolished.
Re-building commenced in December 1994 which included the redesign
of the Lairage improvement to the slaughter line in early 1995; production
restarted 31 March 1995.
March 1996 witnessed the BSE crisis take hold of the national Beef industry, closing the company down for a short period of time, depressing beef sales and reducing the
beef related sales.
In Spring 2001, amidst the continuing effects of the Foot and Mouth epidemic, building work started on a major new Cutting Plant extension.
This was in response to changes in market forces and natural growth
within the primal and manufacturing sectors. The plant was completed by December 2001 and fully commissioned in January 2002.
This building was part funded by the EC Objective One funding that
we were successfully provided.
Throughout these turbulent times,
we remained focused and committed to providing our customers with a quality core product.
We believe in attention to detail and honesty; throughout the
trading process.
